Finding Better Insurance For Your Family

About a year ago I realized the insurance plan that my family currently had wasn't sufficient for our needs. It seemed like whenever anyone got hurt, we really struggled to pay the bill. Fortunately, a friend of mine recommended a better insurance plan that they had used before. We applied, and we were pleased when we were accepted. Our premiums were reasonable, and the coverage was amazing. I know we have benefited greatly from the new insurance. This blog is for anyone out there that is struggling to choose insurance or to select add-on options for their plan.

5 Types Of Car Insurance Coverage You Should Have

If you own a car, you want to make sure you have the right type of car insurance. There are lots of different types of coverage you can have on your car insurance policy. It is important to make sure you have the right coverage.

Type #1: Liability Car Insurance

First, you always need to carry liability car insurance on your vehicle. You need to make sure that you are carrying bodily injury liability and property damage liability. If you hurt someone in an accident that is your fault, your bodily injury liability policy will take care of their medical expenses.

If you damage a vehicle in an accident that is deemed your fault, your property damage likability policy will cover the damage. Without liability insurance, you will have to personally pay for this type of damage if you are sued.

Type #2: Collision Car Insurance

Second, you are going to want to carry collision car insurance, because all the accidents that you will get into will not necessarily be with another vehicle.

For example, if you hit an object, like a streetlight or a house, or you get into a single-car accident, your collision car insurance will cover the damage to your vehicle. This type of car insurance will cover you if you get into an accident that is your fault.  Many car insurance companies require you to purchase collision and comprehensive car insurance together.

Type #3: Comprehensive Coverage

Third, if you want collision coverage, you are more than likely going to want to get comprehensive coverage as well.

Comprehensive coverage will pay to fix your car if it is damaged by something outside of a vehicle accident. For example, if a tree branch falls on your car or if someone breaks into your car, this type of car insurance will cover that type of damage.

Type #4: Medical Payment Coverage

Even if you have health insurance, it is a good idea to get medical payment coverage. With medical payment coverage, when you get into an accident, all your medical expenses, as well as the medical expenses for your passengers, will be covered.

If you have health insurance, medical payment coverage will pay any copays and deductibles associated with your other health insurance.

Type #5: Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist Coverage

Finally, it is smart to carry uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage. Not everyone on the road is going to carry car insurance, even if they are legally required to carry car insurance. In that case, you will ensure that your medical bills and car expenses are covered.

When it comes to your car insurance, make sure that understand the different types of car insurance available, and make sure you have all the coverage you need.
